District Taxi Lekgotla expected to tackle troubling illegal public transportation in Ngaka Modiri Molema

Illegal transportation has been an eye-sore in public transport in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District especially in Mahikeng sub-district, which is mostly the cause for tensions and violence that erupted in the capital city.

For some time law enforcement authorities have had to intervene and ensure compliance on public transport operations to eliminate unroadworthy vehicles and illegal operators who puts lives of commuters in danger.

Through this District Lekgotla, the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management intends to engage with taxi operators in Ngaka Modiri Molema District to look into issues that will lead to resolving the troubling illegal operations and all other long standing conflicts within the taxi industry, building up to the National Taxi Lekgotla.

The Department MEC, Sello Lehari will set the tone for discussions which will focus on unity and leadership, regulation and professionalizing the industry as an important contributor to the economy.
